After being diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2004, Mike has never looked back. Mike is a graduate of the Bachelor of Public Relations program at Mount Saint Vincent University and a recently-elected member of the University's alumnae board. He is currently working as Ministerial Advisor to the Honourable Bill Dooks, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Heritage. With a true passion for sports, especially baseball, Mike’s background includes community and media relations positions with the Toronto Blue Jays and the Cape Cod Baseball League. Mike also recently assisted the Bluenose BoSox Brotherhood as Director of Media Relations for the 2008 Boston Red Sox World Series trophy tour in Halifax. The idea of hosting Nuts4Ribs came to fruition in 2006 when Mike and his wife, Jennifer, held a small event for more than 100 people at their home in Bedford, Nova Scotia. Realizing how successful the event was and that men needed to know more about testicular cancer, Mike decided that Atlantic Canada needed a ribfest. Mike and Jennifer were thrilled with the birth of their first child, Sophie, in January of this year.
